An Example of My Food Obsession

I downloaded a list from the Food Network’s “The Best Things I Ever Ate” off of Wikipedia and checked off the items that I’ve had the pleasure of consuming.

Sadly, there were only four on a list of 199.  Shrimp Cocktail at St. Elmos Steak House in Indianapolis and Mongolian Pork Chop at Mustard’s Grill in Napa were both  OUTSTANDING.  I am also counting stone crabs at Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami and Peking Duck at Peking Gourmet Inn in Falls Church—although I haven’t been to either of these restaurants in nearly 30 years. Does that count?  I say yes.

There are no DC restaurants on this list and only four items appear within an hours driving distance.  I don’t think I’ll be seeking out the fried shrimp heads at Joss Sushi in Annapolis.  However, I am headed to Chicago in a few weeks and hope to cross at least one more item off this list:  cinnamon Rolls at Ann Sather.

Biggest bummer:  I was at Jacque Torres in NYC last week and did not try the Wicked Spicy Hot Chocolate.  I only thought to download the list yesterday.  I am putting the list in my phone so this doesn’t happen again!  The good news is that the caramel chocolate popcorn was wicked enough for me.
