The Oval Room: A Visit to Provence (closed)

Note: The Oval Room has Permanently Closed

As I sit at my computer, taking a much-needed breather from the stifling air outside, my mind wanders back to a dinner in Provence. Every dish in the meal is spiked up with sun-ripened vegetables, a liberal dose of fragrant olive oil, and herbs fresh from the garden.  I sigh audibly, remembering the bold flavors and bright colors woven throughout every course.

The dinner that captivates my attention didn’t actually take place in Provence.  It was at the Oval Room in Washington, DC.  But it felt like a trip to France, and that has to count for something. Good news:  from now through August 10, you too can be transported.

The Oval Room’s Executive Chef Bryan Moscatello has created an inspiring “Summer in Provence” tasting menu for this time-limited offer. Not only is the food first class, the value makes it even more enticing. Diners can select four-courses for $65, five-courses for $75, or six-courses for $85 (excluding tax and gratuity).  Dishes are available a la carte as well. Can’t make it for dinner? There’s a three-course lunch for $32.

Here’s a look at the Summer in Provence Dinner Tasting Menu.

The two year anniversary of my blog came and went, and I didn’t even realize it until two weeks later.  I updated my Facebook status as a way to commemorate the day and moved on.  This is in contrast to my one year blogiversary, when I excitedly reviewed all of my accomplishments throughout the year.  […]
